“Series 108” Was Going To Feature The 1967 De Tomaso-Ford Mangusta, Then An Even More FXXKing Fabulous Idea Came To My Mind.
Here Is The Story…
It Is Well Known That I Lean Heavily On My Acquaintances In Both My Personal & Professional Lives To View My Photographic Series. As Such, Last Week, I Was Sharing “Series 107” With My Latest “Captive Audience” At Work. She Remarked That Her Fragrance Collection Did Not Contain Any By Kilian, But A Fragrance By Tom Ford Named “FXXKing Fabulous” And That It Was A Favourite.
I Had Not Heard Of This Fragrance Before. Yet, Immediately My Mind Began To Think Of How To Use It In One Of My Series…
My Initial Throughts Were Of The De Tomaso Mangusta, As It Was Powered By A Ford Engine. If I Used Normal Racing Nomenclature, Where The Name Of The Constructor Is Followed By The Name Of The Engine Supplier, eg. McLaren-Mercedes, Then “De Tomaso-Ford” Would Make For Lovely Word Play.
The De Tomaso Mangusta Is One Of My Favourite Car Designs, With Gull-Wing Doors Covering The Rear-Mid-Engine & Luggage Compartments. It Is A Nod To The FXXKing Fabulous 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gull-Wing, Yet It Is Completely Unique. It Was Designed By A Then 28-Year-Old Giorgetto Giugiaro, While He Worked For Ghia, The Italian Automotive Design House. The Mangusta’s Gull-Wing Engine Compartment Doors Are FXXKing Fabulous.
So A Series Featuring The Mangusta Scale Model, With The Engine Compartment Open, Was Feasible.
Fortunately, My FXXKing Fabulous Office Colleague Generously Agreed To Lend Me Her “FXXKing Fabulous” Fragrance For The Photography Series.
But, How Will I Introduce “The Language” For The Shoot Without Swearing Myself?
This Was Where The 2015 Ferrari FXX-K Came To Mind. Ferrari Allows Its’ Best Clients To Participate In Its’ Car Development Through The “Corse Clienti” Program. These Cars Are For Track-Use Only, And The Names Are Suffixed With The “XX” Moniker. The “XX” Suffix Means Experimental. The 2005 Ferrari FXX Is A Track-Only Version Of The 2002 Ferrari Enzo. The 2015 Ferrari FXX-K Is The Track Only Version Of The 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari.
The LaFerrari & FXX-K Are Both Petrol-Electric Hybrids. The “K” Is A Truncation Of “KERS”, The “Kinetic Energy Recovery System” Used In Formula One.
The Name “FXX-K” Resulted In Numerous Memes, As It Seemed Like Ferrari Was Experiencing A Naming Crisis During That Period Of Time. After All, The Ferrari LaFerrari Literally Means “The Ferrari ‘The Ferrari’”.
When “FXX-K” Was Abbreviated To “FXXK”, The Resulting “Profanity” Was Readily Apparent.
So, I Was Going to Use My Ferrari FXX-K Scale Model, To Define “The Language” For “Series 108”, Saving Me From Potential Additional Maternal Rebuke.
The Ferrari FXX-K Would Be Used To Introduce The “FXXKing Fabulous” Fragrance And The “De Tomaso-Ford” Mangusta With Its’ FXXKing Fabulous “Wings”…
Too Many Moving Parts, It Seemed…
Why Not Just Use The “FXXK” And The “FXXKing Fabulous” Fragrance?
What A FXXKing Fabulous Idea.
Except, My Ferrari FXX-K Model Is A Closed One.
I Needed A Ferrari FXX-K Scale Model That Could Open Up, And Within Less Than Eight (8) Hours, On A Saturday.
Fortunately, Within A Few Hours Yesterday, My FXXKing Fabulous Friend Mr. Marco Pasquariello, Was Able To Source Me The Only 1:18 Scale Ferrari FXX-K From His Personal Collection.
Later, I Learned That Marco Had To Look Through Thirty (30) Large Unmarked Boxes, Before He Found The Little Box.
Marco Is Owner Of “Model Car Guy Inc., Canada” And “Modena Motors Inc”.
So “Series 108: FXXK” Is Made Possible By Two (2) Really FXXKing Fabulous Individuals.
